Lobuche is one of the highest settlements in the Everest region for accommodation service for various trekkers and climbers. This area is located at 4940 m. It is surrounded by naked hills and snowcapped mountains. The reduced vegetation, pastures, and glacial rivers leading to Lobuche is great to explore.

Lobuche village is famous as a trekking route to EBC, Everest Expedition, Gokyo Cho La Pass trek and the Three Pass Trek. It is a resting zone for Lobuche expedition as well. The low atmospheric pressure and high elevation may cause headaches and altitude sickness if the body does not acclimatize properly.

Things to know about Lobuche village before reaching

The amazing view Mount Everest, Lhotse, Nuptse, and Ama Dablam are major attractions of Lobuche village.  Sherpa culture, popular trekking route, tea houses and mountaineering to Lobuche peak have made Lobuche village popular among nature lover: trekkers and climbers. 

Can we see Sherpa culture at Lobuche Village?

Lobuche is officially made for adventure travelers resting zones before reaching Gorakshep. Here you are not able to see Sherpa home and farm; this place is designated for just accommodation for travellers and pasture for grazing Yak in the past time. 

Trekking route

Lobuche village lies in between Dingboche and Gorekshep exactly in the trekking route to Everest base camp. The trekking route to Gokyo lake, Cho La pass and Khumba La pass can be continued from Lobuche. It is the junction of EBC trek, Gokyo lake trek, Cho La pass trek and Khumba La pass. 

Altitude sickness risk

There is a high risk of altitude sickness due to low temperature and atmospheric pressure in Lobuche. We should drink plenty of water and garlic soup to prevent altitude sickness. If conditions get worse, we should return back to Dingboche or rescue them by helicopter. 

Accomodation in Lobuche

We can expect comfortable accommodation, in particular the tea houses of Lobuche. We can get clean common rooms in most of the tea houses of Lobuche. Luxury accommodation in Lobuche offers bed heating without attached room. Brusting of water pipe due to frozen water is main reason behind unavailability of attached room in Lobuche. 

Italian pyramid—research center

The Italian Pyramid is a research center in Lobuche established by a joint venture between Italy and the Nepal government in 1990 AD. It is located in 4980 meters above sea level. The pyramid-shaped glass corresponds to the shape of Mount Pumori in the horizon. The research center is known as Pyramid observatory laboratory that conducts various research-based om meterology, hydrology, geology, medicine, and biology. We can visit the research centre and get information about it. It provides good accommodation as well.

Temperature in Lobuche 

We can experience cold weather in Lobuche where the temperature ranges from 2.8 °C to -23 °C. The temperature profile of Lobuche is shown in Figure below.

January is the coldest month, while July is the warmest month in Lobuche. Therefore, if you are planning on trekking to Lobuche, then we suggest to choose the best time for trekking rather than January.

Lobuche peak

Lobuche Peak is 6119 meters above sea level, which is the most popular peak for climbing in the Everest region. It gives peak climbing experience and training for Everest Expedition. We can climb Lobuche Peak within a day. 

Food

We can get a variety of food in Lobuche. The most common Nepali foods include like Nepali thali, Mo: Mo, spaghetti, pizza, noodles, bread, and egg items. We can get menu in hotels to choose food items. Nepali thali is the most recommended food to digest easily. We should be very careful while choosing the food because the food does not get digested easily due to high altitude. 

Network and Wi-Fi 

There is not any network in Lobuche, but we can get paid wi-fi in Lobuche. We should pay Rs 1000 per day for using wifi in Lobuche. 

Route to Lobuche 

The route to Lobuche covers Lukla, Phakding, Namche, Tengboche, and Dingboche villages, or Pheriche village. It takes seven days to reach Lobuche from Lukla with acclimatization in Namche Bazar and Dingboche.

Tips for a Successful Lobuche Trek

  • Keep your Body warm
  • Drink Plenty of water or Liquid item
  • Avoid alcohol item and smoking
  • Take Daimox
  • Take Garlic Soup
  • Take Ginger Lemon honey Tea
  • If you arrive early, do a short hike; it will help you acclimation.
  • Always cover your Head
  • drink warm water rather than cold water
  • dont take shower; use wet wipes
  • walk slowly, no rush
  • Use sunscreen to protect your skin from burns.

Conclusion

Lobuche is the accommodation site after Dingboche village. We could get normal tea houses that provide a common room and normal food. The highest altitude may cause a loss of appetite, and we may not desire to eat depending on the situation.
